Our Verdict
This month's 19" monitor group test has been a closely run thing. The one factor to note in this group is the high level of quality that was achieved, only eight points separating the top four monitors, to this extend we have two monitors that have scooped our excellence award, and one for our value for money award. Iiyama is the first company to get our excellence award for the VisionMaster 451, offering the finest image quality we have seen in its class, coupled with a refresh rate of 110MHz at 1280 x 1024 images were rock solid with little or no interference, and backed by a three year on-site exchange warranty, it is a worthy winner. Our second excellence award winner is from ADI, the MicroScan G66 with it's innovative short-neck CRT is a real space saver, and the shadow-mask CRT had outstanding text clarity and impressive colour vibrancy, coupled with a price tag of £285.00 plus VAT it is clearly better value than others in this labs. Our Value for Money was hotly contested between the CTX VL950T, Taxan ValueVision 1910 and the Hansol 910A. Hansol won the day, by it's sheer Overall and Value for Money ratio of 3.55 marks, this was mainly due to the competitive price of £199.00 plus VAT, a price which would put many 17" monitors to shame. The Hansol 910A is currently the cheapest monitor to buy.
