BAYCOOLER II

Do you have a PC with plenty of internal cards and hard drives? Do you want to install another Hard Drive but are worried that the heat your beast is already generating is akin to a journey to the centre of the earth! Then a BayCooler II is the answer.

This 5 1/4" chassis will take a 3 1/2" hard drive, either SCSI or IDE, and has two high efficiency ultra quiet ball bearing cooling fans fitted to the front of the chassis pulling in air and passing it over the hard drive. A filter is fitted between the outside world and the fans, which can be easily removed for cleaning from the front without a screwdriver or opening the PC.

Supplied in the chassis is a power lead for the hard drive which is fitted with a spurred socket so you won't lose a valuable internal power source for the BayCooler. A connector for the hard disk access LED, situated at the front of the chassis, is also supplied but you may need to refer to your motherboard manual to ascertain where to plug it in. The chassis, including the front panel is all metal which should also help to dissipate some of the heat.

Once installed the air pull is impressive and the additional noise of the two fans is very acceptable.

There is no manual supplied as everything you need to know about the BayCooler is printed on the outer packaging. Other than that plenty of screws are supplied to fit the chassis and also the hard drive to it.

All in all a good solution to those existing or potential overheating problems but not a product you'll be waxing lyrical about to your mates in the pub. The product has a RRP of £20.25 + VAT
