AMD Duron 800MHz Processor

Performance Benchmark

Having carried out a comparative review of the 700 and 750Mhz recently, it is only right for us to do the same by including the 800MHz in this roundup, and turn it into a Duron group test.

Overall Benchmark Results Duron 800MHz Duron 750MHz Duron 700MHz
3DMark 2000 - 1024 x 768 6464 6297 6140
3DMark 2000 - 800 x 600 7028 6763 6540
Winstone 2000 32.4 31.4 30.7
SYSmark 2000 154 149 141

Mad Onion 3DMark 2000

3DMark 2000 is one of the best 3D performance diagnostic benchmark software currently available. To provide a comprehensive result we ran under two resolutions 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 both in 16-bit colour.

Mad Onion 3DMark 2000

As one might expect in terms of performance the Duron 800MHz is quicker than it's siblings, the question is how much? In the 1024 x 768 class the Duron 800MHz attains 6464 3D marks whilst the 750 and 700Mhz come in at 6297 and 6140 3D marks respectively. This equates into a 2.66% and 5.28% increase over the 750 and 700Mhz processors respectively. In the 800 x 600 class the Duron 800MHz comes in with a score of 7028 3D marks, whilst the 750 and 700MHz comes in at 6763 and 6540 3D marks respectively. Again, in percentage terms this equates into a 3.92% and 7.47% increase over the 750 and 700MHz processors respectively. It is important to bear in mind the 3D tests are not purely processor dependant, the video card and it's drivers along with the supporting motherboard chipsets play a major role in these tests. The results of the 3D Mark 2000 should be used in conjunction with the other benchmarks we have attained.

BAPCO - SYSmark 2000

SYSmark 2000 is an application-based benchmark that reflects today's leading edge software applications for Internet Content Creation and Office Productivity.

BAPCO - SYSmark 2000

The gap of 14 points (9.22%) between the 700 and 800MHz processors is significantly larger if compared to the 750 and 800MHz which equates to only 5 points (3.36%). These results must be taken in the context of office applications and Internet content creation, which would represent a decent improvement.

ZIFF DAVIS - Content Creation Winstone 2000

Winstone 2000 is similar to SYSmark 2000 and is used by us as a comparison to the SYSmark 2000 benchmarks.

Content Creation Winstone 2000

The Winstone 2000 benchmarks seem to be more in line with the processor frequencies changes with scores of 32.4 for the 800Mhz, 31.4 for the 750MHz and 30.7 for the 700MHz processors. This equates to a percentage difference of 3.19% and 5.54% respectively.
