Head to Head VIA Apollo KT133 (Benchmark Comparison)

Mad Onion 3DMark 2000

3DMark 2000 is one of the best 3D performance diagnostic benchmark software currently available. To provide a comprehensive result we ran under two resolutions 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 both in 16-bit colour.

ABIT KT7-RAID

ABIT has in past performed well on all 3DMarks 2000 tests, particularly with the KT7-RAID in our last look at the motherboard. This time around there were no exceptions to the rule, and as expected did well particularly in the 1024 x 768 section coming out on top overall - which in percentage terms equates to 2.98% and 8.05% quicker than the ASUS and MSI respectively. The 800 x 600 section the ABIT is 1.46% slower than the ASUS, but 5.21% quicker than the MSI.

ASUS A7V

This is the first time we have had the opportunity to test a motherboard from ASUS, and it certainly does well in the 3DMark principle. The 800 x 600 section it comes out on top overall in percentage terms 6.74% and 1.46%, quicker than the MSI and ABIT respectively. Whilst, in the 1024 x 768 it is slower than the ABIT by 2.98% and 4.93% faster than the MSI.

MSI- K7T - PRO

The MSI is the slowest of the bunch; this is mainly attributed to the lack of ATA-100 support, and the motherboards persistence for not acknowledging the PC133 memory as PC133 but PC100. The 3D scores for 1024 x 768 are 8.05% and 4.93% slower than the ABIT and ASUS respectively, whilst in the 800 x 600 section the scores are 5.21% and 6.74% slower than the ABIT and ASUS respectively.

BAPCO - SYSmark 2000

SYSmark 2000 is an application-based benchmark that reflects today's leading edge software applications for Internet Content Creation and Office Productivity.

In terms of application-based benchmarks you could not get closer, the ABIT is 0.97% and 9.95% quicker than the ASUS and MSI respectively. Whilst, the ASUS is 8.91% quicker than the MSI board. The tolerance between ASUS and ABIT is very little, as both have ATA-100 support, which greatly helps to improve the performance scores, particularly in the database, and graphic section scores.

ZIFF DAVIS - Content Creation Winstone 2000

Winstone 2000 is similar to SYSmark 2000 and is used by us as a comparison to the SYSmark 2000 benchmarks.

Content Creation Winstone 2000 scores echo the SYSMark scores, with the ABIT and ASUS being 0.52% apart, whilst the ABIT is 2.92% quicker than the MSI offering. The ASUS and ABIT scoring high is down to the excellent ATA-100 offerings from both them, as the disk benchmarks were impressive.
