Panrix Magnum 1.1G System

Performance

Many of the benchmarks we carried out have been around Windows 98 SE and as the Panrix is supplied with Microsoft Windows Me, we felt it would be a fair comparision if we carried out the same tests using Windows 98 SE.

Overall Benchmark Results Windows Me Windows 98 SE
3DMark 2000 - 1024 x 768 6888 6881
3DMark 2000 - 800 x 600 8123 8235
SYSmark 2000 196 202

Mad Onion 3DMark 2000

3DMark 2000 is one of the best 3D performance diagnostic benchmark software currently available. To provide a comprehensive result we ran under two resolutions 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 both in 16-bit colour.

3DMark 2000

The 3DMark 2000 test reveals the Windows Me as being slower in 800 x 600 mode but in 1024 x 768 mode Windows Me edges away from 98 SE only marginally. As far as the Panrix Magnum is concerned the scores give an excellent account of the graphic subsystem, considering the Hercules only has 32MB onboard. The Magnum most certainly continues to up hold Panrix's reputation for producing performance-based systems.

BAPCO - SYSmark 2000

SYSmark 2000 scores using Windows Me are slightly lower than Windows 98 SE, although the difference is not huge when you compare it to running office based applications, however the score of 202 in Windows 98 SE compares with similar results we have obtained from our previous benchmarks using near enough the same configuration. We were duly impressed with the turn of speed the Panrix Magnum achieved.
